The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), along with Shin Bet and Israel Border Police, are continuing their counterterrorism efforts in Jenin through Operation Summer Camps. This targeted and precise operation aims to prevent the area from turning into another Gaza-like enclave under the control of terrorist organizations. Jenin, a long-time hotspot for terrorist activity, is one of several Palestinian Authority cities where Iranian-backed Hamas has gained influence.
The ongoing operation has led to significant actions against terrorist threats. So far, 14 terrorists have been eliminated in shootouts and airstrikes. In addition, Israeli forces have confiscated approximately 20 weapons and arrested 25 terrorists. An underground weapons cache was discovered, and around 30 explosives, some buried under roads to harm Israeli forces, were neutralized.
The IDF reported that during the operation, terrorists were seen throwing explosives at Israeli forces from the roof of a mosque. This incident highlights the use of civilian infrastructure by terrorists to conduct their attacks, a tactic commonly used by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza. Such strategies pose a significant threat to the area’s military personnel and civilians.
The operation in Jenin reflects Israel’s broader efforts to combat Iranian proxies across multiple fronts. The IDF is determined to dismantle terrorist networks and reduce the threat posed by groups like Hamas in Palestinian Authority territories. As the operation continues, Israeli forces remain vigilant to protect their nation and prevent the escalation of terrorist activities in the region.
