Several schools in Delhi received bomb threats on Tuesday morning (17 December, local time), causing panic and prompting immediate evacuations. Schools in South Delhi and North West Delhi, including Indian Public School and a school in Saraswati Vihar, were among those targeted. Police, fire brigade, and bomb squads were dispatched to the affected locations for inspection.
The threats follow a recent wave of similar incidents in Delhi. On Saturday (14 December), six schools, including Delhi Public School, RK Puram, Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj, and Gyan Bharati School in Saket, received threatening emails. The sender claimed the schools would be attacked on a Saturday when students might not be present.
The threatening emails originated from “childrenofallah@outlook.com” and contained alarming messages referencing bomb vests and intended destruction. Authorities took the threats seriously, conducting extensive searches of the schools’ premises. Despite the ominous tone of the emails, no explosives or suspicious items were discovered.
Earlier, on Monday (9 December) and Friday (13 December), similar threats were sent to dozens of Delhi schools, triggering a large-scale emergency response. After thorough inspections, police declared those threats as hoaxes. The recurring bomb scares have caused significant disruption, raising concerns about school security and the potential for future threats.
