According to the reports on Saturday (10 May), eight Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured in shelling by Pakistan in the RS Pura sector of Jammu. The attack is a part of escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border. This recent incident has prompted Indian authorities to reassess their approach to cross-border terrorism.
In response to this and similar attacks, government sources confirmed that India will now treat any future act of terrorism targeting its soil as an “Act of War.” This stance marks a significant shift in India’s policy, signaling a more aggressive approach to dealing with cross-border terrorism. The government is committed to taking a commensurate response to any such acts, signaling the potential for stronger military and strategic actions.
Amid these rising tensions, the authorities in Punjab have taken precautionary measures to ensure public safety. Malls and tall commercial buildings in the districts of Jalandhar and Kapurthala were ordered to close. This decision is part of broader safety measures in the region, which remains on high alert due to the ongoing security situation.
These developments highlight the increasing volatility in the region, where both India and Pakistan are on edge over cross-border issues. The closure of commercial spaces in Punjab reflects the seriousness with which the Indian government is treating the situation, and the new policy shift on terror attacks emphasizes India’s readiness to protect its sovereignty.
