Israeli airstrikes on Saturday (21 June) led to the deaths of 15 Iranian Air Defense officers and soldiers, according to Iranian state-affiliated outlet Nournews. Among those killed were high-ranking officials, including two brigadier-generals, five colonels, three first-lieutenants, one third-lieutenant, and four conscripts. This marks one of the most significant losses for Iran’s air defense forces in recent years.

In a separate incident, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that five of its members were killed in Israeli strikes on the city of Khorramabad in western Iran. The growing toll highlights the intensifying shadow war between Israel and Iran, with recent escalations targeting not only military infrastructure but also key IRGC personnel.

Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the assassination of Mohammad Saeed Izadi, the commander of the IRGC Quds Force’s Palestine Corps. Izadi played a central role in funding and arming Hamas in the lead-up to the October 7 attacks and was reportedly behind strategic plans to coordinate multi-front assaults against Israel. He was killed in an Israeli strike on an apartment in Qom, south of Tehran.

Additionally, Iran’s Fars news agency reported that Israel had targeted the Isfahan nuclear site. While the strike did not result in any hazardous material leaks, it underscores Israel’s intent to disrupt Iran’s nuclear infrastructure amid broader military tensions. The attacks signal a major escalation with high-profile casualties and strategic targets struck deep inside Iranian territory.
