According to the reports on Thursday (3 July), Hamas is reportedly satisfied with the latest ceasefire proposal it received, which includes guarantees to end the ongoing war in Gaza. This information was shared by a knowledgeable source cited by the Saudi news outlet Asharq, indicating a potential breakthrough in the stalled negotiations.
The proposal assures that both Hamas and Israel will refrain from resuming hostilities as long as negotiations are in progress. This assurance has been framed as a crucial condition to sustain calm during the diplomatic process and to move toward a possible end to the conflict.
However, another source close to Hamas told the outlet that the new proposal does not differ significantly from the previous one presented by U.S. mediator Steve Witkoff. These minor changes may influence the group’s final decision as they assess whether the new terms truly address their demands and conditions.
In the meantime, violence continues on the ground. The Palestinian Shehab News Agency reported that more than 30 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip since midnight on Thursday. Hamas is expected to deliver its official response to the ceasefire framework by Friday.
