According to the reports on 26 June, at least nine people were killed and many others were injured after a multi storey building collapsed in Lagos on 26 June. The structure was occupied by both residents and office workers when the incident occurred.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency led a large scale rescue operation, deploying heavy equipment to search through the rubble. Rescue teams pulled survivors from the debris, treated them at the scene, and transferred them to nearby hospitals for further care.
Authorities said 27 people were rescued with injuries ranging from minor to severe. Emergency crews continued search and recovery efforts to ensure no one remained trapped beneath the collapsed building.
Following the disaster, Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu ordered structural inspections of nearby buildings and urged strict compliance with safety regulations. The collapse has renewed concerns over recurring building failures in Lagos, which are frequently linked to poor construction standards and weak enforcement of building codes.
