As per reports on 04 May, a disastrous fire in Libya’s Lathrun village of the Green Mountain has devastated 80 hectares of woodland, including unique trees.
The fire is thought to have started inadvertently, with one of the shepherds igniting a fire that spread due to the winds.
Green Mountain is an eastern Libyan region famed for its beautiful woods and rich animals.
Because the area is home to many rare and endangered species, the loss of these forests and trees would be especially devastating.
