Airstrikes, anti-aircraft weaponry, and artillery could be heard early Saturday (29 April) in Khartoum, and heavy smoke rose over portions of the city as the conflict in Sudan entered its third week.

Fighting between the army and a rival paramilitary organization continued on Friday (28 April), despite the declaration of a 72-hour ceasefire extension when air, tank, and artillery attacks rocked Khartoum and the neighboring cities of Bahri and Ombdurman.
