According to the reports on Wednesday (4 December), Baltimore residents may experience snow showers and gusty winds as a cold front moves in midweek. The National Weather Service forecasts a 40% chance of rain and snow at BWI Marshall Airport overnight Wednesday (4 December) into Thursday (5 December), with temperatures dropping to 35 degrees. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph, creating potentially hazardous conditions. Winter shelters have been activated in Baltimore City and County for those in need.

The mountains of Maryland are expected to face more severe conditions with blizzard-like weather due to powdery snow and high winds. Travel difficulties may arise, particularly overnight into Thursday evening (5 December, local time). Thursday (5 December) will bring mostly sunny skies with a high of 39 degrees but breezy conditions, with wind gusts potentially requiring a high wind warning.

By Thursday night (5 December, local time), clearing skies will usher in colder temperatures with a low of 26 degrees and brisk winds. Friday’s (6 December) forecast includes sunny skies but colder conditions, with a daytime high near 38 degrees and a nighttime low near 23. A gradual warming trend is expected over the weekend, with highs reaching into the 40s on Saturday (7 December) and 51 on Sunday (8 December).

Early next week, rain and showers are predicted to return. As the cold front passes, Baltimoreans can expect fluctuating weather conditions, with freezing overnight temperatures and milder daytime highs over the weekend. Those traveling or without adequate shelter are advised to stay prepared for the changing weather.
