Experts warn that the next time you use chargers or cables offered in public areas such as train stations, airports, restrooms, or shopping malls, you should be wary of falling victim to financial cybercrime.

The Kolkata Police cyber unit has issued a warning against a gang of cyber thieves who implant malware onto gadgets charging via public USB connections.

According to a cyber specialist, after the infection is loaded into the smartphone, the fraudsters obtain access to sensitive information like contacts, images, videos, card details, bank account data, and UPI details.
