As per reports on 24 February 2023, Bird flu, often known as avian influenza, has claimed the life of an 11-year-old girl in Cambodia, and other residents of her neighborhood have been ill, possibly paving the way for long-term human-to-human transmission.

According to reports, in southeast Cambodia’s Prey Veng 11-year-old fell unwell on February 16 and had a 102-degree fever, a cough, and a sore throat.

She passed away soon after checking into a hospital in the city of Phnom Penh.

Locals are advised to remain vigilant.
