A senior Hamas official stated on Wednesday (25 June) that ceasefire negotiations between Hamas and Israel have intensified in recent hours. Taher al-Nunu, the official, confirmed that communication with mediating countries Egypt and Qatar has remained ongoing and has recently grown more active.
Despite the uptick in talks, Hamas has not yet received any new proposals to end the war, which has now entered its 21st month. The group continues to rely on Egypt and Qatar to facilitate discussions aimed at halting the conflict in Gaza.
US President Donald Trump also weighed in on the situation, expressing optimism about the direction of the ceasefire efforts. He claimed that “great progress” is being made toward ending the war in Gaza.
Trump further suggested that recent US strikes on Iran may have positively influenced developments in the Middle East. He linked the military action to a potential breakthrough in peace efforts, although details about the direct connection remain unclear.
