In Central Texas, freezing rain has caused icy road conditions that have forced road closures and resulted in collisions.
Along with closing their doors, the region’s businesses and schools are dealing with icing and freezing temperatures.
In anticipation of the forecasted icy conditions on Wednesday (01 February 2023), the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) started pretreating bridges and overpasses on significant Austin roadways on Sunday (29 January 2023). Despite this, there have been reports of wrecks and road closures as the roads remain slick.
