A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) inspector was killed in action during a gunfight with terrorists in the Cheel area of Ramnagar, Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday (19 August). The inspector, identified as Kuldeep Singh, was part of a joint patrol with the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (JKP SOG) when the incident occurred.
According to officials, the gunfire began at approximately 15:30 (local time) when terrorists opened fire on the patrol. Inspector Kuldeep Singh, a member of the G company of the 187th battalion, sustained serious injuries from the gunfire and later succumbed to his wounds while being transported to a medical facility.
Following the initial attack, the terrorists fled the scene amidst strong retaliation from the joint patrol. Authorities have since dispatched reinforcements to the area and launched a search operation aimed at locating and neutralizing the militants responsible for the attack. The incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region as security forces continue to confront militant activities.
