On Monday 30 January in Northwestern Peshawar City, a Taliban suicide bomber detonated himself inside a mosque, killing 83 people and injuring at least 57.
Around 1:40 p.m. (local time), a bomb went off inside the mosque as worshippers were performing afternoon prayers. Those killed and hurt were primarily police and security personnel.
According to the Tehreek-e- Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the suicide bombing was a part of a retaliation attack.
