Delays and disruptions amid collisions

On January 7, 2023, numerous highway closures and a handful of slips and collisions caused traffic interruptions across the nation.

In the most recent of four accidents today, a significant two-vehicle collision occurred between Cliff and Brown roads at around 03:20 p.m. (local time) and is expected to result in a lengthy closure of the Pacific Coast Highway near Whakatne.

After a significant collision this afternoon in which a car hit a powerline and caused it to fall into the road, SH25 is closed close to Pukepoto. Another collision between Tairua and Hikuai has also blocked SH25.
