On Tuesday (18 April), around 100 flights on South Korea’s Jeju Island were canceled due to hazardous wind conditions.
High winds and wind shear, which are abrupt changes in wind direction and speed, alerts were issued by the weather service for the island.
97 domestic flights to and from the airport have been canceled as of 8:50 a.m. (local time), according to Jeju International Airport.
A flight from Singapore that was supposed to land in Jeju at 6.45 a.m. (local time) was also diverted. There were 480 flights planned for Tuesday (18 April).
