According to the reports on Monday (08 September), Security forces launched a joint operation in the Guddar area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district following specific intelligence provided by the police. The army, local police, and paramilitary CRPF personnel coordinated efforts to track down suspected militant activity in the forested region.
During the search, troops noticed suspicious movements, and when they challenged the suspects, militants opened fire. This triggered a fierce gun battle between the militants and the security personnel.
In the exchange of fire, one militant was killed. Three army men, including a Junior Commissioned Officer, sustained injuries in the shootout. The injured soldiers were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Chinar Corps confirmed that one militant was eliminated, while additional troops were rushed to tighten the cordon in the area. Security forces continue to maintain pressure as the encounter remains ongoing.
