According to the reports on Monday (17 March), security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district initiated a cordon and search operation in Krumhoora village of Zachaldara following intelligence about terrorist presence. The operation aimed to locate and neutralize the suspected militants hiding in the area.
The situation escalated when the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, triggering a fierce encounter. The exchange of gunfire intensified as the forces closed in on the suspects, with the goal of neutralizing the threat.
Kashmir Zone Police confirmed the operation, stating that an encounter had begun in the Krumhoora Zachaldara area of Handwara. They assured that the police and security forces were actively handling the situation and that additional details would be provided as the operation progressed.
Reports suggest that one or two terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area. The security forces are maintaining a tight perimeter to prevent any escape and ensure the safety of civilians in the vicinity.
