Gauteng faces spring heatwave this weekend

Gauteng is preparing for its first potential heatwave of the spring season, expected to start on Friday (11 October), and last until Monday (14 October). The South African Weather Service issued a heatwave advisory, warning residents of persistently high temperatures over the weekend.

According to Gauteng Weather’s social media updates, the heatwave is likely to bring temperatures as high as 34°C on Saturday (12 October). The forecast for the rest of the weekend includes highs of 32°C on both Friday (11 October) and Sunday (13 October), with slightly cooler temperatures expected on Monday (14 October).

The heatwave poses a risk to vulnerable individuals, and residents are urged to take precautions to stay hydrated and avoid heat-related illnesses. This early-season heatwave significantly changes from the cooler spring weather experienced so far.
