According to the reports on Monday (04 August), Gaza is facing what aid agencies describe as a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian crisis. They have told Al Jazeera that without an immediate halt to hostilities, the situation could spiral into an irreversible collapse. The recent escalation in violence has led to further devastation across the territory.
Since dawn on Monday, at least 34 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza. Among the dead are 17 individuals who were reportedly seeking humanitarian assistance. These attacks have intensified fears that civilians attempting to access life-saving aid are being targeted.
Despite a partial easing of restrictions by Israel on July 27, access to humanitarian relief remains severely limited. Authorities in Gaza report that over 22,000 aid trucks are currently waiting outside the Strip. However, only an average of 84 trucks have been allowed entry per day, far below what is required.
According to aid organizations, at least 600 trucks are needed daily to meet the basic needs of Gaza’s population. The severe shortfall is worsening conditions for civilians already enduring bombardment, displacement, and widespread shortages of food, water, and medicine. Without urgent action, humanitarian groups warn the crisis could become unmanageable.
