According to the reports on Tuesday (15 October), in a deadly Hezbollah drone attack, four Israeli soldiers were killed and 61 wounded at a base near Binyamina in central Israel. The attack, which targeted Israel’s elite Golani brigade, marks the deadliest strike by Hezbollah since Israel’s invasion of southern Lebanon two weeks ago. Hezbollah launched the attack using missiles to distract Israel’s air defenses while the drones struck the base.
In response to increasing threats, the U.S. has agreed to send the THAAD missile defense system and additional troops to Israel. This move comes after previous missile attacks from Iran, further highlighting the close U.S.-Israel military cooperation. The Pentagon emphasized that this deployment is to strengthen Israel’s defenses against ballistic missile attacks.
Meanwhile, the situation in Gaza remains dire. At least 10 people were killed and 40 injured when Israeli tank shells struck civilians waiting for food in Jabalia, a refugee camp in northern Gaza. Additionally, an Israeli airstrike hit a Hamas command center inside a hospital compound, killing several people, including women and children.
Israel is currently engaged in warfare with both Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, with over 1,400 people killed in Lebanon since the conflict escalated. Hezbollah’s rocket attacks and Israel’s retaliatory strikes have fueled fears of a broader regional conflict, with potential military action against Iran looming.
