According to reports on Thursday (10 October), The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that their air force jets struck and killed two high-ranking Hezbollah commanders in south Lebanon. One of the commanders, Ahmad Mustaga Alhaj Ali, was responsible for launching hundreds of rockets and anti-tank missiles at the Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona. The second commander, Muhammad Ali Hamdan, led Hezbollah’s anti-tank corps in Meiss Ej Jabal, a town near the Israeli border, and was involved in multiple attacks on northern Israeli communities.
In addition to the targeted killings of the Hezbollah commanders, the IDF reported that they conducted airstrikes on weapons caches in southern Lebanon and Beirut. These strikes are part of ongoing military operations against Hezbollah, a militant group that has been a significant threat to Israel’s northern region. The IDF stressed that these commanders played a crucial role in orchestrating attacks on Israeli civilians and infrastructure.
The strikes on Beirut specifically targeted locations where weapons were stored, and the IDF took measures to minimize civilian casualties by issuing advanced warnings for people to evacuate. This reflects Israel’s efforts to reduce harm to civilians in densely populated areas while still neutralizing strategic military targets belonging to Hezbollah.
These military operations come amid ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with frequent cross-border attacks and retaliation. The IDF’s actions are aimed at weakening Hezbollah’s military capabilities and preventing further rocket and missile fire from southern Lebanon into northern Israel.
