According to the reports on Thursday (8 May), during a press briefing on Operation SINDOOR held on Wednesday (7 May), India emphasized that its military response to recent hostilities was focused, measured, and aimed at avoiding escalation. Indian officials clarified that Pakistani military establishments were not initially targeted and reiterated that any aggression against Indian military assets would prompt a proportional response.

On the night of Wednesday (7 May, local time) to Thursday (8 May, local time), Pakistan launched a coordinated assault using drones and missiles aimed at multiple military locations across Northern and Western India, including cities such as Srinagar, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Bhuj. India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems successfully intercepted these threats. The recovery of debris from various locations has provided solid evidence of Pakistan’s offensive.

In response to the attacks, the Indian Armed Forces carried out precision strikes targeting Pakistani air defence radars and systems at several sites, including the confirmed neutralization of one in Lahore. India maintained that its counterattack mirrored Pakistan’s actions in both domain and intensity, reinforcing its stance of proportionality and strategic restraint.

Meanwhile, Pakistan escalated ceasefire violations across the Line of Control using mortars and heavy artillery in sectors like Kupwara, Uri, and Poonch. These unprovoked attacks have resulted in the deaths of sixteen civilians, including women and children. India responded militarily to suppress further Pakistani shelling, while reaffirming its commitment to non-escalation—provided Pakistan refrains from further provocations.
