Indian Mujahideen terrorists are actively working to expand their network in Jharkhand, using social media to radicalize young people. The police headquarters has issued an alert, and the Special Branch has instructed district SPs to closely monitor online activities. Intelligence reports indicate that the group is attempting to establish a strong presence in the region, making Jharkhand a potential target.
Previously, security agencies had uncovered a significant Al-Qaeda network in the Indian subcontinent, leading to over 15 arrests from Ranchi, Lohardaga, and other areas. While the investigation into that case was ongoing, authorities now face a new threat from Indian Mujahideen. This has prompted urgent measures to prevent further terrorist expansion in the state.
A Facebook account named Faizan Khan, displaying the Indian Mujahideen logo, has been identified by intelligence agencies. The account contains discussions related to anti-national activities and organizational expansion. In response, police and intelligence officials are increasing surveillance on social media to detect and dismantle similar accounts promoting extremist ideologies.
In 2024, a joint investigation by the NIA and ATS revealed that a banned terrorist group was attempting to strengthen its foothold in Jharkhand. During this probe, an ISIS suspect was arrested from Lohardaga, providing crucial intelligence. Security agencies are now focusing on tracking and eliminating any emerging threats to maintain stability in the region.
