Indonesia struck by a massive earthquake

On Tuesday, January 10, at 3:17 am, an earthquake of a magnitude of 7.7 occurred in the Indonesian province of Tanimbar (local time).

Australia’s Northern Territory, which includes Darwin as well as the provinces of Papua and East Nusa Tenggara, experienced tremors.

The earthquake took place 97 kilometres (60.27 miles) below the earth’s surface. 

Aftershocks may occur in the next hours/days.
