Iran launched missiles at Israel, prompting civilians across the country to take shelter in bomb shelters, the Israeli military said on Tuesday (1 October). The attack comes in the wake of Israel’s ground offensive in Lebanon aimed at Hezbollah, following the deaths of the militant group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, and a senior official from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Israeli strikes on Beirut.
According to Israel’s foreign ministry and the IDF, the missiles were fired at 10.08 pm (IST). Iran’s state news agency IRNA confirmed the launch, stating it targeted Tel Aviv. Israeli media, cited by Reuters, reported that around 100 missiles were launched, while videos showed intercepted missile debris falling over Tel Aviv as Israel’s Iron Dome and Arrow defense systems engaged.
Blasts were also heard in Jerusalem and other parts of the country, though no casualties have been reported so far. The Israeli army advised residents to stay in protected spaces as interceptions continued. The Home Front Command issued life-saving instructions across various areas in Israel, emphasizing the need to follow safety protocols.
This missile strike occurred shortly after reports emerged of a suspected terrorist shooting in Tel Aviv, where at least four people were killed. The combination of missile attacks and local violence has intensified the security situation in Israel, further escalating tensions in the region.
