Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow fog warning for 23 counties in Ireland, warning of reduced visibility and potential hazards for drivers. This advisory affects Cavan, Monaghan, Galway, Leitrim, Roscommon, and all counties in Leinster and Munster. The warning, which began at 6 p.m. (local time) on Tuesday (12 November), remains in effect until 10 a.m. (local time) on Wednesday (13 November), as dense fog and mist create challenging conditions.
As the morning progresses, fog is expected to clear, although the skies will turn increasingly cloudy from the north. Some areas in the north and west may experience drizzle, mist, and hill fog, while southern regions could see intermittent sunny spells. Daytime temperatures are set to range between 9°C and 13°C, with conditions cooling to between 5°C and 10°C overnight.
For the rest of the week, Met Éireann forecasts generally cloudy weather, with periods of light rain and drizzle. Although Friday (15 November) may see persistent drizzle in the northwest by evening, temperatures will remain mild, staying between 11°C and 13°C during the day before dropping slightly overnight. Winds are expected to stay light, which could lead to mist and fog forming in some areas.
Over the weekend, rain will clear southward by Saturday afternoon (16 November), allowing for sunny spells and scattered showers from the northwest. Temperatures are expected to be cooler, between 9°C and 12°C. By Sunday (17 November), the country may experience a turn toward windy conditions, continuing the trend of cloudy and variable weather.
