According to the reports on Friday (7 February), Hamas is expected to release the names of hostages set to be freed on Saturday (8 February) as part of the ongoing deal. Currently, 20 hostages remain on the list for release in the first stage, though eight of them are no longer alive. The fate of Shiri Bibas and her two children remains uncertain, as the agreement prioritizes freeing women before men.

Hamas sources claim that former US President Donald Trump’s proposed plan to take over Gaza and relocate Gazans may complicate negotiations. The second stage of the deal includes discussions on a ceasefire, the release of terrorists, and the return of remaining Israeli hostages. Hamas has expressed frustration over the plan, suggesting it may impact their willingness to proceed with the agreement.

Meanwhile, an Israeli delegation is preparing to travel to Qatar for further negotiations, but it will consist of low-level officials. Key figures, including the heads of the ISA and Mossad, as well as Minister Ron Dermer, will not be attending. This absence raises concerns about the delegation’s ability to make meaningful progress in the talks.

A diplomatic source has indicated that the team heading to Qatar lacks the authority to influence negotiations significantly. Additionally, Qatar reportedly has little confidence in the delegation’s ability to advance discussions. These factors, combined with increasing tensions over Trump’s proposal, could hinder efforts to secure further hostage releases and a potential ceasefire agreement.
