According to the reports on Tuesday (10 December), Israel launched extensive military operations targeting key Syrian military sites following the fall of the Assad regime. According to reports, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out approximately 250 airstrikes, hitting critical targets such as airports, Russian-made fighter squadrons, radar systems, and weapons depots. These strikes were aimed at preventing advanced weapons from falling into the hands of rebels and ensuring Israel’s security.
The IDF also targeted the Defense Research Institute in Aleppo and the Scientific Research Center near Damascus, among other strategic locations. Explosions were reported near the Syrian capital early Tuesday (10 December), indicating the scale of the operation. Air defense systems, including surface-to-air missile sites, were reportedly neutralized, further weakening Syria’s military capabilities.
The UK-based Observatory for Human Rights claimed that Israel had destroyed Syria’s most critical military assets, leaving its air force on the verge of collapse. This offensive significantly reduced Syria’s military infrastructure, creating a strategic advantage for Israel in the region. Military analysts suggest that Syria’s air force could be rendered non-operational within days.
Additionally, the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen network reported that Israeli forces advanced into nine Syrian villages near the Israel-Syria border. Tanks were positioned about 20 kilometers south of Damascus, signaling a deep incursion into Syrian territory. These moves solidified Israel’s military presence along its borders, further securing its strategic interests amid the ongoing regional conflict.
