According to the reports on Monday (25 November), Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon have resulted in dozens of fatalities, including 29 deaths in Beirut’s Basta area after a residential building was destroyed. The Lebanese Ministry of Health initially reported 20 deaths but later revised the toll upward. Rescue operations continue as the aftermath of the devastating attack becomes increasingly evident.
In Dahieh, Beirut, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) targeted 12 Hezbollah command centers, including facilities used for intelligence operations, missile coordination, and weapon smuggling. According to the IDF, these sites were critical for planning and executing attacks against Israel. The strikes represent an escalation of Israel’s military campaign against Hezbollah amid ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
The airstrikes extended beyond Beirut, with the Baalbek-Hermel region in eastern Lebanon suffering severe losses. An attack on Shmistar killed 13 people, including four children, and injured 13 others, while surrounding towns saw additional casualties. In southern Lebanon, the city of Tyre experienced heavy bombardment, resulting in five deaths and 19 injuries, highlighting the widespread impact of the conflict.
Since September, Israeli strikes have targeted Hezbollah leaders and infrastructure, with devastating consequences for Lebanon. Over 3,000 people have been killed, and more than a million displaced, according to the United Nations. The intensifying violence has left the country grappling with significant humanitarian and structural challenges as the toll continues to rise.
