According to the reports on Thursday (22 May), an intense encounter is underway in the Singhpora Chatroo area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir, where two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists have been killed. The operation began early Thursday morning (22 May, local time) based on specific intelligence about the presence of three to four terrorists, including a senior JeM commander named Saifullah. Officials confirmed that one soldier has been injured during the exchange of gunfire.

The joint operation, named ‘Op Trashi,’ involves multiple security units, including Para Two, 11 Rashtriya Rifles, 7 Assam Rifles, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. After confirming the presence of terrorists in the dense forest area, the forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) to trap and neutralize them. As the forces approached, the terrorists opened fire, triggering the current encounter.

This operation is part of a broader effort to dismantle terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir. It comes on the heels of recent successful encounters in Tral and Shopian in South Kashmir, where six terrorists were killed. The coordinated actions suggest increased vigilance and operational readiness among the security forces across the region.

According to the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps, contact was made with the terrorists in the morning, and additional troops have been deployed to the area to ensure no escape. The forested terrain presents challenges, but the forces remain committed to completing the mission. The operation is ongoing, and efforts are being intensified to eliminate the remaining terrorists.
