After protests were held in the state against the killing of two youngsters who were allegedly kidnapped in July, the Manipur government reinstated the internet ban on Tuesday (26 September).
According to officials, the state’s mobile internet services have been put on hold for five days.
The limits will be in place across the state until Sunday (01 October) at 7.45 p.m. (local time). Due to the current circumstances, all schools in the state have been closed till Friday (29 September).
About 45 students were hurt during a protest on Tuesday (26 September) in the Imphal Valley of Manipur after police baton-charged the crowd and sprayed tear gas at them.
Hours after images of the two youngsters’ bodies went viral on social media, students from Imphal-based schools and colleges organized protest demonstrations to call for the arrest of those responsible for the atrocity.
