On Thursday morning (22 June), a local volunteer and two Assam Rifles men were injured in a gunfight with Kuki insurgents at Tairenpokpi, which falls under the jurisdiction of Lamshang Police Station in Imphal West district.
According to sources, the gunfight began at about 4.45 a.m. (local time) when Tairenpokpi Maning Leikai villagers looked for their lost cows at the crossroads of Kangpokpi and Imphal West districts.
