On Friday (18 August), three members of the Kuki community were slain in Manipur.
The killings were the first to occur in a Naga-dominated neighborhood since the fighting started on 3 May and ended a 13-day truce.
The three murders occurred between 4.30 am and 5 am (local time) in Thawai Kuki hamlet, which is situated on the boundary of the Naga-majority Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
Although the village is part of the Kamjong district’s Phungyar subdistrict, Ukhrul, from which Kamjong was separated in 2016, continues to have police control over it.
