On Tuesday (29 August), two people were killed, one of them was a village defense volunteer (VDV), and seven others were injured in fierce fighting between two competing factions in Narainsena, Bishnupur district.
According to investigators, the VDV was killed when a device exploded owing to his mishandling, and another person died as a result of his bullet injuries.
Separately, officials stated that four militants from various organizations were apprehended in separate operations in Imphal East and Bishnupur districts and that some rifles and ammunition were taken from their hands.
