People of Washington will demonstrate in front of the State Department (2201 C St NW, Washington, DC 20520) on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, around 10 am (local time). The protest is meant to express sympathy with the people of Tigray as they battle a grave circumstance and a lack of necessities.
The protest’s agenda calls for providing the people of Tigray with humanitarian aid, feeding Tigray children, reestablishing all public services (bank, phone, transportation, water), as well as prosecuting criminals, aiding victims of sexual assault, and most importantly, ceasing the export of arms to Ethiopia.
The people of Tigray are facing a crisis due to the armed conflict. The war was primarily fought in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia between the Ethiopian federal government and Eritrea on one side, and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) on the other.
