According to the reports on Tuesday (15 October), although the monsoon left Rajasthan over a week ago, the region continues to experience heavy rainfall due to a western disturbance. Several districts, including Udaipur and Kota, are expected to receive more rain in the coming hours. Udaipur’s Dabok recorded the highest rainfall with 119 mm, and thundershowers are likely to persist in parts of southern Rajasthan.
Temperatures in Rajasthan are expected to rise during the day, with most districts seeing highs above 30 degrees Celsius. Early mornings and evenings are beginning to feel mildly cold, indicating a shift in the weather pattern. However, the afternoon heat remains strong across many areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for districts such as Udaipur, Chittorgarh, and Kota, advising people to prepare for continued rain. Despite the ongoing showers, the northwestern and northern parts of Rajasthan are predicted to experience dry weather over the next three to four days.
Additionally, heavy rains have caused the Chambal tributary Gunjali to swell, leading authorities to open the gates of the Rana Pratap Sagar Dam for the first time in October. Two gates of Jawahar Sagar and four of Kota Barrage were also opened, with sirens alerting residents in the downstream areas to the increased water flow.
