According to the reports on Monday (17 February), Russia’s defense ministry announced that its air defense units intercepted and destroyed 90 Ukrainian drones overnight (local time). The attack targeted multiple regions, with the drones being shot down over both land and sea.
According to the ministry, 38 drones were destroyed over the Sea of Azov, while 24 were intercepted over the southern Russian region of Krasnodar. The remaining drones were downed in various locations across southern and western Russia, including the Crimean Peninsula.
The ministry shared this information through a post on the Telegram messaging app. It emphasized that Russian defense systems were actively countering aerial threats from Ukraine.
In addition to the drones, Russian forces also intercepted and destroyed a guided missile over the Sea of Azov. The incident highlights the ongoing air confrontations between Russia and Ukraine amid their ongoing conflict.
