Russia launched a massive barrage of drones, cruise, and ballistic missiles at Kyiv early Monday, according to Ukraine’s air force. Several explosions rocked the Ukrainian capital, forcing residents into bomb shelters.
Emergency services were dispatched to the Holosiivskyi and Solomianskyi districts, while one person was reportedly injured by falling debris in Shevchenkivskyi district.
Russia’s assault included multiple cruise missile groups, ballistic missile launches, and drones targeting Kyiv. An explosion was also reported in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city.
This attack comes a day after Russia claimed to have intercepted and destroyed 158 Ukrainian drones targeting multiple Russian regions. The barrage also follows weeks of heightened tensions, with Ukrainian forces making incursions into Russia’s Kursk region, an action to which Moscow has vowed to respond.
