Russia accused Ukraine of carrying out what seemed to be the largest drone strike on Russian land since Moscow invaded 18 months ago, followed by a Russian attack on Kyiv that killed two Ukrainian officials early Wednesday (30 August).
Drones crashed into an airport in Russia’s western Pskov area, on the border with Estonia and Latvia, causing a large fire, according to the governor and local media.
More drones were shot down over Oryol, Bryansk, Ryazan, Kaluga, and the Moscow region around the Russian capital.
Pskov regional Gov. Mikhail Vedernikov canceled all flights to and from the region’s namesake airport on Wednesday (30 August) so that the damage could be inspected during daylight hours.
