According to the reports on Thursday (24 July), a Russian An-24 passenger aircraft operated by Angara Airlines has crashed in the eastern Amur region, resulting in the deaths of all 49 people on board. The flight was en route from Blagoveshchensk, near the Russian-Chinese border, to the town of Tynda when the tragic incident occurred. Among the passengers were 43 civilians, including five children, and six crew members.
According to regional governor Vasily Orlov, the aircraft went off radar shortly before reaching its destination. Emergency officials later confirmed that a rescue helicopter located the burning fuselage a few kilometers away from the Tynda airport. The news agency TASS reported that there were no survivors.
Initial investigations suggest that the crash may have been caused by a landing error due to poor visibility. Conditions at the time of the incident were reportedly challenging, which may have contributed to the aircraft losing control during its final approach.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. The incident has sent shockwaves through the region, and condolences are pouring in for the families of the victims. Aviation safety experts are also calling for a review of flight protocols in extreme weather conditions.
