Thousands of Ubank customers are being warned to be on the lookout for text messages suggesting that their spending limit has been reduced.
In a new phishing scam, scammers have begun mimicking the internet banking giant.
The URL link will then redirect the victim to a third-party website where they will be requested for their credit card or banking information.
Ubank will never request confirmation or disclosure of banking information through a link in an email or text message.
To further protect yourself from phishing scams, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) suggests the following:
- Do not open attachments or click on links in texts purporting to be from your bank or another trustworthy institution asking you to update or verify your information.
- Look for any references to a similar fraud on the internet.
- If you receive a call claiming to be from your bank or another organization, never give out your personal, credit card, or online account information. Instead, check with your bank
