A suicide attack on the Joint Response Centre in Zhob’s Sabakzai area was foiled by security forces early Wednesday morning (9 October). The attackers targeted the center from three sides at 3:40 am (local time) but were repelled, preventing further damage. One Frontier Corps (FC) official, Havaldar Jam Sher, was martyred, and 13 people, including two civilians, were injured during the attack.
Security forces neutralized two terrorists, including a high-value target named Umar, also known as Umari, who was involved in numerous attacks on security forces and civilians. The military’s media wing, ISPR, confirmed that the terrorists were killed before they could cause further harm. Umar had recently been involved in an attack on a convoy of the Deputy Commissioner of Sherani.
A sanitization operation is ongoing in the area to ensure no other terrorists remain. The security forces are committed to maintaining peace and stability in Balochistan, and the sacrifices of their personnel strengthen their resolve in fighting terrorism. The ISPR emphasized the nation’s unity with the security forces in thwarting future attacks.
Despite the decline in terrorist incidents, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain hotspots for such activities. A security report from September 2024 showed a 24% decrease in terrorist attacks, with 45 attacks across Pakistan, resulting in 54 fatalities and 117 injuries. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number of incidents, followed by Balochistan, while no attacks occurred in Sindh.
