As of 27 January 2023, West Auckland residents who live in flood-prone areas are being advised to get ready to evacuate as terrible weather causes car accidents and power outages in Tamaki Makaurau, and a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the north of the nation.
Auckland Emergency Management reported that the severe weather was getting worse throughout the city and that it was determining what steps should be taken.
The police are urging drivers in Auckland to adjust their following distances, be cautious of other road users, and postpone any unnecessary travel in the area.
