Seven people were killed, three were missing, seven were injured, and thousands were evacuated in South Korea on Saturday (15 July), according to officials, as a third day of severe rains prompted landslides and a dam overflow.
According to the Ministry of Interior and Safety, 1,567 individuals have been evacuated nationally as of 11 a.m. (local time) (0200 GMT), and the number could climb if water overflowed the dam in North Chungcheong province.
According to provincial authorities, evacuation orders issued by local governments encompassed more than 7,000 persons on various occasions. More than 2,700 tonnes of water per second were rushing into Goesan Dam as of 9 a.m. (local time), the highest it can discharge.
