According to the reports on Monday (25 November), the search for Brian Perry, a 75-year-old man missing in the River Conwy, ended tragically as a body was found near Llanrwst in North Wales. The incident occurred as Storm Bert caused severe weather disruptions, including heavy rainfall, snowmelt, and flooding. Nearly 400 areas across the UK are now at risk, highlighting the storm’s significant impact on the region.

Storm Bert delivered nearly a month’s worth of rain within 48 hours, accompanied by winds reaching up to 82 mph. The severe weather wreaked havoc on transportation, with roads and rail services disrupted across affected areas. In Wales, towns such as Pontypridd, Ebbw Vale, and Aberdare experienced rising water levels that submerged homes and vehicles, intensifying concerns about public safety.

In addition to flooding, Storm Bert claimed the life of a man in his 60s in Hampshire after a tree fell on his car. Meanwhile, rescue teams in North Wales saved ten individuals trapped in a home struck by a landslide, underscoring the storm’s danger. Emergency services remain on high alert as conditions continue to worsen across the country.

The Met Office issued six weather alerts on Sunday (24 November) as temperatures increased, contributing to snowmelt and further flooding risks. Authorities are urging residents in flood-prone areas to stay vigilant and follow safety advisories. The combination of extreme weather events demonstrates the growing challenges posed by severe storms in the UK.
