On Thursday 23 February two coal miners fell ill after a toxic gas accidentally leaked in the SRP-3 underground mine belonging to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in Srirampur around 2.10 pm (local time).
No casualties were reported.
The miners were quickly hauled out of the mine by a rescue team that was dispatched. Following the incident, the second shift, during which 220 miners were scheduled to work, was suspended.
