According to the reports on Friday (20 December), the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched 36 drones targeting Russian territory, as reported by Russia’s Ministry of Defense on its Telegram channel. The attack involved various regions, prompting defensive measures from Russian air defense systems.
According to the ministry, 16 drones were intercepted over the Krasnodar Territory, 14 over the Black Sea, 5 over the Bryansk region, and one over the Belgorod region. The defense systems successfully neutralized the threat, preventing damage to critical infrastructure.
Russia’s Defense Ministry described the drone strikes as an attempt by Ukraine to carry out terrorist attacks on strategic facilities within Russian territory. They emphasized the operational readiness of their air defenses in mitigating the threats posed by the drones.
A similar drone operation occurred on Thursday (19 December), when Ukraine launched 84 unmanned aerial vehicles targeting seven Russian regions. The largest number of drones, 36, were intercepted over the Rostov region, followed by successful interceptions in Bryansk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, Tambov, and Krasnodar territories.
