As unrest erupted in Manipur on Saturday (06 May), four persons were killed in Churachandpur while security personnel were evacuating Meiteis from the area, and another was slain in Imphal.
This shooting in Churachandpur follows days of fierce skirmishes between the state’s majority Meitei group and the Kuki tribe, which began on Wednesday (03 May) in the same location.
The incident allegedly occurred as tribals attempted to intervene in the departure of Meiteis from the region.
